Goal
The goal of this project was to answer the design question: How might we encourage Calgary restaurants to use sustainable food practices? This resulted in a comprehensive system map that visualizes the main stakeholders, factors, and impact of local food waste in the service industry. By using human-centered design, the project team aimed to share their research on food waste in a clear and accessible way.
Solution
A variety of research methods were conducted, including subject matter expert interviews, academic studies, and user interactions. This research was used to develop a system map that breaks down the complex issue of food waste into its various components. The resulting map was incorporated into an interactive exhibit that educates users on the impact of food waste in their local community and helps them understand the root causes of the problem. Overall, the project provided a valuable tool for understanding and addressing the issue of food waste in the local service industry.
